"How'd they get so far away?" Finn exclaims, somewhat concerned. "Guess we got caught up in the action, huh. Time flies when you're hunting Titans," he adds, looking to the others in the squad. While he isn't showing it, he certainly is worried about the prospect of being out lost. Without the other squads, they would be moving through titan territory blind. Finn knew the captain realized this, and found himself losing respect for the man. A good leader shouldn't be wearing his fear, he will only succeed in causing panic.

Jack knew the situation was looking grim and decided to stay close to Keiko. Who was hunched over awkwardly on her horse. "This is looking pretty bad, you think we're gonna go after them? If we do I got your back." He said nudging her a little. Keiko sat up and faked a smile, winking at Jack when he looked at her. "If Titans got to them, I'll mow em' down!" Jack laughed and slapped her back, Keiko held in her scream as a silent tear rolled down her smiling face.

"Captain, what should our next course of action be?" Lucas asks. "Are we to continue outward like this while searching for the others? Or should we turn back before it's too late and make for the wall by ourselves?"
"We cannot return to Shiganshina without the rest of the Survey Corps," the squad captain responds. "Not only would it be shameful, but can you imagine how much respect the scout regiment would lose if a mistake like this would reach the ears of the people? They would decrease our funds and may even shut us down all together. No. We must continue onward. The others shouldn't be too far away."
Lucas didn't agree with their captain, but he decided to keep it to himself. He didn't want to disobey direct orders after all. He looks at the others - Keiko, Finn, Deux, Jack - wondering what they thought.

"What!?" Jack grumbled. "Can you believe this guy Keiko? It sounds more like he's trying to protect his reputation. Am I right, or am I right?" He looked to Keiko for a response, but when he saw his friend's face, she looked as if she was frozen in place with shock. When Keiko heard what the captain had said, mixed emotions rushed through her mind. She knew she needed to go back to the wall, but then again she wanted more than anything to fight.
Crap, she thought. I have to tell them I can't continue. This sucks! I was in over my head again. Puzzled, Keiko contemplated on what the best decision for her would be. She felt as if her heart was torn in two, one half for her health, and the other for her desires. She blew her breath only to feel the pain rip threw her chest, she silently whimpered in pain. That defined her decision. Alright then. I'll say, 'I'm injured and need to retreat. I'm injured and need to retreat.' Yeah, short and simple.
Keiko raised her head and spoke to the captain. "Sir I... I mean. Remember what we stand for, lingering on the thoughts of people shouldn't make your decisions," Okay, she thought, a little more worded but good point. "But... that's not to say we can't avenge our comrades if those bastards killed them. That is to say I'm with you all the way!" Keiko paused for a moment cursing herself in her mind with instant regret. What did I just say!? Oh gosh, I hate myself so much!

"I'm glad to know I can always count on you, Keiko," the squad captain says with a nod to her.
Lucas heard Jack's grumbles and rides up closer to him as they ride along. "For the record, I'm completely with you on this, Jack," he says so only Jack can hear. "We have no way of knowing how far away we are from the others, so as long as we keep riding out like this, we're going completely blind. Besides I have a feeling Keiko may have injured herself pretty badly in that previous battle. She's just too proud to admit it. I won't go against orders from my superior, but I will try to figure out something."
Not long thereafter Lucas spots a distinct looking tree that he recognizes from a previous scout mission.
"Captain, sir," he starts, "if memory serves there's a ruined fortress located not far to the west of here. We've been riding for a long time now and I think that place would be the perfect spot for a little break. And who knows, perhaps we'll find the other soldiers resting there."
"That's a fair point," the squad captain replies. "I remember this fortress as well. Let's go!"
And so Squad 6 arrives at the fortress ruins at sunset. Though they didn't find anyone else there, at least they had been lucky enough to stay away from any more titans.
"We will make camp here for the night and continue riding at first sight of daybreak," the squad captain says somewhat hesitantly.
Lucas walks over to Keiko. "Alright, real talk. Do you need help with bandages?" he asks her. "I know you're wounded. It's as clear as day. Especially now."

"Lucas, I'm fine." She said in a soft but tense voice. It's probably just a bruise." She slowly got off of buttercup, and went to find a place to sit while walking stiffly. "It'll probably heal up in the morning, and I can fight Titans with you guys. I just need to rest." She gave him a genuine smile and a wink. "I'm fine really, don't worry about me."

"Well, seeing you like this I can't help but worry," Lucas replies and hands Keiko a bandage roll. "I won't push it any further because I know it's bugging you, but please don't hesitate to use these if need be."

Keiko takes the bandage and thanks him and she finds a place to settle. She sits down and looks at the bandages roll and shuffled it around in her hands. Maybe I should put this on. She thought, But I refuse to be seen as a helpless weak link. She got up and went out of sight, putting the bandages on. She lied down and struggled to catch her breath, and couldn't get comfortable because of the piercing pain. It was a long night, but soon she was fast asleep.

Finn found himself agreeing with the captain's plan to not return. Getting lost was a careless mistake that would certainly shame the captain, but it would still reflect poorly on the cadets involved. As the arrived at the fortress, he hopped off Ditch and began helping set camp. "I'll take first watch," he announced.

"Alright, then wake me up in a bit so I can take second watch," Lucas replies before laying down to sleep. He had a lot on his mind. He didn't want this to be the end. Never before had he been in such a dangerous situation outside the walls. No more than six people left to defend themselves from the titans. He thought it had been a bad move not turning around while they were still fairly close to the wall. Now they were almost a full day's ride away from Shiganshina District. All Lucas wanted was to be free and to really feel the freedom that he knew existed somewhere out there. But he would never be free if he was dead... Thoughts like those troubled Lucas for some time, but soon enough he fell asleep too.

The sun peeks over the horizon waking up Jack, who grumbled and rolled over, hoping no one else wakes up. Keiko's stomach woke her up that morning. The grumbling sound of the tank being empty got her up wondering what's on the menu. She decided to take it easy today and let her chest heal.

Lucas woke up not long after Keiko so he walked over to her and sat down.
"Good morning," he said with a sleepy voice. He grabbed two food bars and handed one to Keiko before he started eating his. This was the only food the Survey Corps ever brought with them on their expeditions. It didn't taste bad, but not exactly good either.
"So how're you feeling today?" Lucas asked Keiko, trying not to wake up those who were still sleeping.

"Great actually,"She covered her mouth looking at the others, luckily she didn't wake anyone, she looked over to jack who gave her the death stare, he quickly retreated under his covers again. Keiko gave Lucas an embarrassed smile and spoke in a low voice. "My only problem is wondering if this rescue mission is a loss cause. if I were in top shape I would rather go find them in the night. That may be reckless but I didn't want to come back out here in the first place."
